When the Carrington Cupid brooch escapes the family fold, trucker Jerry Hilton discovers it in the trailer of his 18-wheeler after several deliveries. Unaware of how it got there, or that it has united couples in the Carrington family for generations, he pins it to his visor. The escaped Cupid connects Jerry with stranded motorist Betina Hughes, leading the trucker and his dog, together with Betina and her cat, down a bumpy road that only Cupid’s magic can smooth out into a highway of love.

I enjoyed the way the relationship between Jerry, the hero, and Betina, the heroine, sparked and grew over time. Cupid played an important part in weaving the storyline together, of course. The characters come to life on the page, and act and react in the ways people do, which makes the story believable and enjoyable. It was easy to identify with them.
To summarize the story a bit: Jerry Hilton drives an 18-wheeler. He's experienced a bad relationship. He was in love, but she was a gold-digger who wanted a movie career, and ditched him for a movie producer. Betina Hughes lost her job in Midland, TX, and right afterwards, her fiance backed out of their wedding. Her grandmother, who raised her, died after a long illness. Betina pulls up stakes, and finds a job in Salt Lake City. She was burned by the fiance running backwards, and doesn't have much confidence. She distrusts men but mostly she distrusts her judgment of men. So they both have some life-lessons to get around. Though they see each other at the beginning of the book, they meet in person a couple of months later when Betina is on her way to her new job, in her grandmother's old Ford towing a U-haul. She has car trouble, and Jerry rides to the rescue.
The rest, you'll have to read for yourself!

It's not often that writers can infuse their characters with the depth that makes me want to know them as real people. But this book does that and so much more. Lovers of romance won't be able to put this one down. Stayed up all night reading it and I loved every minute. Definitely recommended!

AWESOME book!! I have been looking forward to another book in the (Cupid) books. Each book has been great!! Great love story without all the sex some books have! Just enough to keep me on my toes and dreaming with my vivid imagination. Loved the characters in this story. I felt like I was right there with them. I do believe I have a new appreciation for long haul truck drivers!! oh yeah
