Karen Rossi

Karen Rossi—also writing as Kaarina Brooks—is a retired elementary teacher who emigrated from Finland with her parents and sister in 1951. Since childhood, writing and art have played a huge part in her life, and the juvenilia that she and her sister wrote together is still tucked in her filing cabinet drawer, waiting for…maybe a second kick at the can? Her short stories, articles and poetry have appeared in magazines, e-zines, literary journals and anthologies, and she writes everything from children’s picture books to erotica. (The latter under the pseudonym, Karen Rossi.)

Karen often incorporates the images of Finland— brilliant blue lakes, endless summer nights and the sauna—in her writing. Thus the play of light and darkness, as well as splashes of water, are found in many of her poems and stories, as well as in her watercolor paintings.

Karen is the grandmother of four. She and her husband now live in a condo with a great view of farmlands and far-away hills. She is a member of RWA and of Toronto Romance Writers, as well as the Canadian Society for Children’s Authors, Artists and Performers.
