Q. Do I need an agent to submit to Soul Mate Publishing?
A. No, however if you have an agent, we will be happy to work with him/her.
Q. Will I have to pay to publish my book or for it to go to print?
A. NO! Soul Mate Publishing is not a vanity press. We pay royalties. At no point does an author have to provide money during the publishing process.
Q. Do you accept books that are written by multiple authors?
A. Yes, but the authors split the single author royalty.
Q. To whom do I submit?
A. Send queries via e-mail to submissions@SoulMatePublishing.com.
In the body of the query, be sure to include your contact information, the genre, a brief summary of your story, and any contest wins or publishing credits. Attach a synopsis and the first three chapters of your manuscript saved as Rich Text Format (RTF).
For more details, see the Submission Guidelines listed on our website.
Q. Will Soul Mate consider a previously published manuscript?
A. Yes, but you must submit proof that you have reacquired the rights.
Q. I have a great love story, but my hero dies in the end. Will Soul Mate publish this book?
A. No. We publish only romance, and, therefore, require a happy ending.
Q. What plot elements won’t you accept?
A. No depraved or illegal acts, bestiality, or pedophilia.
Q. Do you accept simultaneous submissions?
A. Yes, but please let us know if your work is being considered by another publisher.
Q. May I send several submissions to Soul Mate at the same time?
A. No. Send us your best piece, and if we like that, we’ll ask for more.
Q. How long will I have to wait for an answer on my submission?
A. Generally, about three months. Unlike the larger publishing companies, your work will not go into a slush pile. We’ll get back to you as quickly as we can.
Q. How soon after my manuscript is accepted will my book be available?
A. This will depend on our publishing schedule, but remember, we want your books available as much as you do. E-publishing will have your book available to your readers more quickly than traditional publishing, which is advantageous to both of us.
Q. If Soul Mate accepts my manuscript, will it be available as a print book as well as an ebook?
A. Yes. Books that are 50,000 words and above will go to print about nine to ten months after they’re electronically published.
Q. Why should I publish at Soul Mate Publishing?
A. Here at Soul Mate Publishing, we LOVE romance!! We’re willing to take a chance with new writers and more unusual story ideas. We like genre lines that blur. We’re dedicated to helping manuscripts shine and working with new writers to get their work out there for everyone to enjoy. What better way than to work with Soul Mate, where two become one?
